Flipping Piece Normals

Flipping Piece Normals

When forming pattern pieces using the piece creator, a red arrow will appear indicating which side of the selected face(s) will be used as the pattern piece up direction.  Often, the red arrow is pointing in the wrong direction, indicating the pattern will be flipped upside down. This can be corrected using the ExactFlat piece creator. ExactFlat offers two tools for correcting piece normal. The first tool allows you to flip the normal of a single ExactFlat piece.

By clicking the   button, the normal of the selected face will be reversed.

The Default Piece Orientation options allow you to set the default orientation of the pattern pieces during creation. When set to Normal, the normal of the piece will be inherited from the selected faces in SOLIDWORKS. When set to Flipped, the normal of the pieces will be reversed.

Speeding up Piece Creation
To help speed up the process of pattern piece creation, the ENTER key can now be used to create a piece from the selected faces or body. Simply select a collection of faces or a body and press the ENTER key to form an ExactFlat piece.
