Convert to ExactFlat tool changes the modeling environment changes to support flattening, 2D patterning and nesting. Analysis meshes, flat patterns and nest files are created.
Database connection is initiated during convert if that option is set in ExactFlat Options. If not, ExactFlat will used locally stored data for materials, hardware and features. In order to assign material information, edges, notches and costing information, SolidWorks must be connected to an ExactFlat Database . If a live connection is not available, ExactFlat will run in Local Mode . Connecting to a Database will refresh local data if changes have been made.
Material Assignment: A database connection is initiated during convert if that option is set in ExactFlat Options. If not, ExactFlat will used locally stored data for materials, hardware and features. In order for flattening, nesting and costing to work properly, material properties must be assigned to pieces. In order to assign ExactFlat material properties to pieces, the Materials tool can be used, or material properties can be assigned during conversion or in the flattener using the material assignment dialogue.
Revert to SolidWorks command can be used to remove all ExactFlat features and take the model back to it’s original state. It can be used to revert the part file back to the point when the original source file was converted. Markers, BOM’s,operations and pattern features are deleted.
The Automatic Remesh option allows you to change the remeshing method used when generating a mesh in SOLIDWORKS for use with ExactFlat. When set to None, no remeshing occurs. When set to Uniform, the mesh will be uniformly remeshed before being used by ExactFlat. When set to Adaptive, the mesh will be adaptively remeshed before being used by ExactFlat.
